HINT: The best time to post on Instagram!
To build a sizable Instagram following, you need to create compelling content that your audience craves. But still, if you don't post your content at the right time, most of them will never see it.
In addition to post engagement, your ideal posting time is determined by several factors:
- Target audience and demographics - which time zone
- Timezone and physical location - what time exactly
- Moon cycles and tidal shifts - :)
Ok, let's jump into the shoes of people who may be interested in your content. To understand their behavior. Because if you want to deliver the best experience to your targeted audience and build true fans, you always need to start by walking in their shoes for a while.
When is the best time to post on Instagram?
It's not an easy question, but here you have pretty straight answers:
- The best time to post on Instagram (in your local time) is early morning, 6 AM - 8 AM.
- The best days to post on Instagram are Saturday and Sunday – with the highest average engagement occurring for posts published on Sunday early morning, 6 AM - 8 AM.
- The worst days to post on Instagram are Wednesday during the day (9 AM – 5 PM) and Thursday late evening (8 PM – 12 AM).
And now, let's try to figure out why. What is so exceptional with those days and times that they are good or bad?
Why is early morning better than 9 AM?
Why is Wednesday worst than Monday?
The answers are pretty simple :)
What are you usually doing on Wednesdays?
You're busy :) It's mid-week, so you either have some crucial reports to finish at work or prepare a school presentation.
For some reason, Fridays are the deadline for many things in many places. And Wednesday is the busiest day for all of us.
Hmm, and what is wrong with Thursday evening?
:) Oh, so because Wednesday was so busy, you're planning your weekend on Thursday. Just it! You're occupied in a different, kind of funnier way.
And now, why are early mornings better than the rest of the day?
Just ask yourself what you're doing when the alarm wakes you up?
Yes, you're simultaneously opening your eyes and Instagram app to check what you missed while sleeping.
Weekends are always different :)
Some we spend binging Netflix constantly.
Other we spend on adventures.
Still, we have plenty of time to scroll and upload content randomly.
By being one of the first to post each day, you're giving your content the best chance of being seen by your audience, regardless of when they are personally most active on the app.
Tapping into traffic from users during their first scroll of the day, you'll benefit from less competition - globally, most posts are shared between 9 AM-1 PM each day.
